Flowerpower – I don’t know her real name – made this impressive hat and has provided instructions for us:
Yarn:
Any yarn you want, really. The main color is good in Fisherman, it looks rather noodly. The meatballs are TLC acrylic in a darkish red. All is in worsted weight.
Directions:
I used the pattern for the kittyille/devil hat in Stitch ‘n Bitch. You could use any hat you like, I just liked the stockinette base.
Eyestalks:
Pick up and knit 13 stitches for each stalk, and knit even for about 22 rows. With white, make the eyes by increasing, then decreasing (I’m vey specific, I know). Make two meatballs, and sew them on. I cna’t remember where I got my pattern, but you will have to experiment to get them the right size.
Noodles:
Pick up three stitches, and make an i-cord. Make as long as you want. Repeat as may times as desired.
Ties may be added with meatballs on the end, if you wish. It would just be another i-cord with meatballs on the ends.
For a poseable noodle, run a piece of wire up the center of the i-cord.
Wear His praises proudly, RAmen.
